Are they really “Covid” dogs?

We are seeing so many dogs being given up on Facebook, local community pages and every single shelter be it a municipal shelter or humane society is full! Many say it is due to the fact that so many dogs got fostered during Covid and a few years later, that is NOW they are being given up.

I am not so sure this is the case. Perhaps a small percentage can be traced back to a Covid adoption but I see it as the economy has been so bad and people are struggling to pay the bills. The unfortunate part is, the dogs and cats are being disposed of.

I think one thing we can ALL do is to help a neighbor or friend keep their animals by helping with some medical expense or food for the dogs or cats. I see it locally here in Coos Bay, OR so many on FB and it does seem like some have to move as they can no longer afford the apartment or house they are in and the animal cannot go with them. If you are able to help someone in need in your neighborhood, please reach out! Or help them in whatever way you can to keep their dogs or cats at home. Times are hard for the animals right now. OR if you have been thinking of adopting, NOW is the time! We can all do something.
